Lancashire lass,
Helen, gave her first public performance at the age of
five when she
astounded the whole of her primary
school with an a cappella rendition of
Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday”. She
hasn't stopped singing since!
Moving to London in the 1980s, Helen
joined the South Kensington Women's
classical choir and performed at the
Queen Elizabeth Hall on the South Bank
before taking a leap in the opposite
direction and becoming a rock chick with
award winning West London based covers
band
the Phantoms.
After three years of shouting, Helen
decided to return to her first love -
JAZZ!
Since emerging on the London jazz scene,
the last two years have seen Helen
perform with distinguished musicians
such as Digby Fairweather and his Half
Dozen, Humphrey Lyttelton, George Melly, Liane Carroll, Dave Green, Jimmy
Hastings, Kate Williams, Gunther Keuymer and Geoff
Castle. Venues have included Pizza
Express, Dean St, the Bull’s Head in
Barnes, the Spice of Life and the Ram Jam Club in
Kingston.
Helen
is also the founder and director of a
new entertainment agency,
Jazz Artists
Direct, which specialises in
providing high quality jazz artists &
musicians for theatres, arts centres,
festivals, jazz clubs, corporate &
private events. |
